About Samanta & Painted Ivory

After a ten year career in the Air Force, I separated from the military and became a mama. Having worked my entire adult life until that moment, I went through a major identity crisis during this big life change. God met me where I was, which ultimately led to starting this brand.

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Proverbs 16:9 NIV

In 2015, the military was going through a major reduction in force and my career field took one of the largest hits. When joining, I thought I'd be retiring from the Air Force in 20 to 30 years, and even though God gave me a lot of peace about this unexpected turn, I had a really difficult time getting used to my new life. So much of my identity was rooted in my military career, all of my 20's were dedicated to serving in this capacity; suddenly, I felt cheated out of my twenties and insecure about where to go next.

One month after separating, I became pregnant and had my son the following year. Motherhood isn't easy for anyone, but no one said it was going to be this hard. I've never felt so alone in my life. "What is wrong with me?" I thought, and the tears would flow. I was so disappointed with life and everyone around me, because no one seemed to understand what I was going through or knew how to help.

That's when Jesus met me.

He walked me through this entire situation, refining, teaching, and comforting me every step of the way. Like a good shepherd, God Himself guided me through this low point in my life. Some days all I could do is say His Name, while tears rolled down my cheeks, but it was enough. He was always enough.

My identity was always supposed to be rooted in Him, not a career, nor even motherhood or marriage, but Him. The Bible says that Jesus is the Way and the Light. He directs our steps and He is the One Who formed us in our mother's womb. I didn't know. I didn't know how much Jesus loved me, and that everything I went through would soon be used to fulfill a greater purpose.

Painted Ivory is a lifestyle brand that is rooted in faith and family. Where I share my little story to inspire and empower others to pursue Jesus, in their own way, according to God's Will. I love and am an advocate for healthy, holistic living, and use this space to share that passion to help you switch to clean products and practices without feeling overwhelmed. I believe that non-toxic living is meant to enhance our lives, so we can experience the fullness of everything God has in store for us. The way we were always meant to be. Healthy, happy and free.

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love." Galatians 5:13 NIV
